Grimdur Ironfist

| Race: Dwarf | Class: Forge Domain Cleric |
A devout forge cleric dedicated to Moradin the Allhammer, Grimdur Ironfist embodies the dwarven ideals of craftsmanship, creation, and divine fire. His magic channels the sacred art of the forge — blessing weapons and armor, shaping metal with divine power, and wielding fire as both tool and weapon.
As a follower of Moradin, Grimdur sees the divine in every hammer strike, every forged blade, and every piece of crafted armor. His faith is as solid as the metal he works and the stone his people call home.
The Betrayal at Uthodurn
Grimdur’s past is marked by betrayal, loss, and shame.
In Uthodurn, the dwarven city in the frozen north, Grimdur lived with two friends: James and Lucian. Together, they stumbled upon something extraordinary — a large vein of residuum, the rare crystallized arcane material worth a fortune.
That discovery should have changed their lives for the better. Instead, it destroyed everything.
Lucian betrayed them. He killed James and left Grimdur behind to take the blame. With James dead and Lucian vanished with the residuum, all eyes turned to Grimdur. He was blamed for his friend’s death, banished from Uthodurn, and the Ironfist name was disgraced — a family reputation built over generations, shattered by crimes he didn’t commit.
Now Lucian leads the Shades, whose hideout lies somewhere in the mountains near the Underdark entrance the party recently used. The vendetta between them remains unfinished. Whether confrontation is inevitable remains to be seen, but Grimdur’s hatred for the man who murdered his friend and destroyed his life runs deep.
The Degrading Finger
One of Grimdur’s fingers is missing and the wound continues to degrade, slowly flaking away like dead skin. This is the consequence of a deal he struck with Sheerna the Shapeless Dread, a hag. Because Grimdur has been slow to uphold his part of the bargain, he is slowly evaporating — the curse manifesting first in his finger, but threatening to spread further if the debt remains unpaid.
The Rune of the Master Smith
In Session 72, while exploring the desecrated Temple of Moradin in the deep Underdark, Grimdur found something that called to him: a smooth stone carved with dwarven runes. The moment he picked it up, it glowed blue — a sign that it recognized him as a dwarf.
This is a Rune of the Master Smith, an ancient and powerful artifact of his people. It had survived the temple’s conquest and desecration, waiting in the cold forge for a worthy finder. The full extent of its powers have yet to be revealed.
The Sporeheart Enclave
To enter the myconid colony in Session 72, Grimdur was forced to sacrifice a memory. He gave up the years between his exile from his clan and finally settling on the Menagerie Coast — years spent searching for revenge that never came. A painful journey that ended only when he gave up the quest. The myconids called it a “vast contribution.”
In the enclave’s marketplace, Grimdur traded a used parachute and a great axe for a mysterious large purple egg. What will hatch from it remains to be seen.
